Swedish online retailer Webhallen.com recently listed GTA V for PC, PS3, & Xbox 360 for pre-order with a 2011 release.
This could easily be brushed off as pure assumption, but the same retailer listed the PS3 GTA IV bundle before it was announced.
Considering Webhallen is a major Swedish retailer, Rockstar could very well have let them in on some retailer information.
Two GTA listings before they’re announced by the same retailer is fairly suspicious, especially with the recent rumors of GTA V being announced soon at a Max Payne 3 event.
What I get from this listing, is that an official announcement is definitely imminent.
All we can do though, is sit back and watch how this pans out.

However, we’re a fansite, not just a news-site.
We’re big fans ourselves and if we were following a fansite we would want to hear about things like this…

Man I hope this is really going to be out in 2011. I thought they were going to wait longer.
I doubt they’ll wait untill 2012. I think it’s going to be released Fall 2011.
I guess it could be delayed then ofc… But then they get more consumer awareness and hype once it gets closer to release in 2012…
They need the money and can only go so long without a new game, and a GTA specifically.

Personally, I have doubts of this being the real deal, but I’m still keeping my hopes up to see if any official announcements arrive any time soon.

I think you have to remember, being a Rockstar Games fansite and all, that Rockstar have 3 other games which have already been announced, not to mention DLC for Red Dead Redemption (and possibly for the aforementioned 3 announced games). Rockstar won’t release another Grand Theft Auto before their already announced games, hell I know that and I don’t even own a fansite!
Also, Rockstar DO NOT need money. Frankly I find it a little odd for you to make such a comment when you work on a fansite covering Rockstar. Red Dead Redemption was hugely successful, and GTA is not the only money maker, it is the highest, yes, but not the only one. Max Payne has always been a popular series, and I know for a fact that people are waiting in anticipation to see some media regarding the next game.
I believe the next GTA will be announced before next June (possibly April), but I do not believe we will see it released until the very end of 2010 or very beginning of 2011. October is always a popular date when it comes to releases for Rockstar, but lately they have been changing things up a little.
I read this website every once in awhile, and you guys seem to have no idea what Rockstar actually does. You make some pretty outlandish comments and news articles on no legitimate grounds. To say you are fans and then make comments about Rockstar having no money and “have to release a GTA soon” makes you sound like critics, not fans.
First off, i’ve always been saying that i believe the next GTA will be released fall 2011, which is later then you thought in your comment.
Secondly i didn’t mean that they NEED money to keep developing the games, but i just mean that they can only go so long without releasing a game. They need more money to continue developing AAA titles in the future… Not to keep developing what they already are.
And i know Red Dead Redemption was a successfull game and that Agent is being hyped, and Max Payne aswell, and that they (or at least most of them) will be released before the next GTA, but there’s no denying that Grand Theft Auto is the biggest franchise owned by Rockstar Games and also the one generating most revenue for the developer. I can’t see them waiting to loong to release one.
So like i said… I think that they will be announcing it early next year, with a release date sometime fall 2011, or spring 2012.
And last but not least, we are a fansite, we have a great idea of what Rockstar Games do, but we also post even the slightest of news, even if there’s a 99,9% risk that they have no new information, or even if it’s a fact that they are false. We just want to supply our readers with any information about Rockstar Games and any of their titles.
We are die hard Rockstar Games fans and we hope that our readers are too. But you must not forget that we are persons to, so obviously we have our own opinions and ideas.
Sorry, that was my mistake, I meant to say “end of 2011, start of 2012″ not “end of 2010, start of 2011″. Year has gone by so far, it still feels like 2009 to me.
Anyway, while I respect your position on these things, I don’t believe you should be voicing your opinions so openly. Sure, you are a human and you have opinions like everyone else, but making them vocal is something you should be doing in small amounts.
I feel, as a fansite, you should be offering up accurate news, not just every little thing that appears in your Google Alerts (or which ever way you choose to stay-in-the-know). I also feel that your opinion should be the last possible alternative to historical Rockstar trends, especially when it comes to being overly critical of the company in which you choose to cover.
Yes, I agree, work at offering what your visitors want, but at the same time don’t offer up information which you yourself do not have trust in.
There are several Rockstar Games fansites now, and I remember back when the first one appeared – I was so excited! Finally a site which covered everything R*. While I enjoy reading up on RockstarBase’s take on news events, I have to admit that when it comes to accuracy and usefulness of news, you guys are a long way behind the original Rockstar fansite. While yes, you guys do a good job, you seem to focus too much on trivial topics.
All in all, I’m not trying to have a go at you, or anybody else on RockstarBase. I just feel that lately you guys have been covering some seriously trivial topics.
