From flying helicopters in The Ballad of Gay Tony to riding horses in Red Dead Redemption, this man has payed tribute to it all, with incredible detail and amazing recreation of the atmosphere from the games.

We got the chance to sit down with Patrick and interview him about his art, life and more!
If you want to know more about the man behind the art, then you’ve come to the right place

When did you first start drawing?
A: I started drawing at a very young age, I think I was around 5 or 6 years old when I started drawing sketching out characters. I think I got it from my father who was aslo an artist, he was more traditional, oil painting was his thing and he was a brilliant drawer.

How long have you been playing GTA?
A: I’ve been playing GTA since the very first one came out, and stuck to them every time a new one was released. There is no other series of games I love more than Grand Theft Auto, I’m a huge fan!

When did these two meet? What was your first GTA inspired piece?
A: By the time Vice City came out was was only a pencil drawer, I had no knowledge of digital art. But I was just so inspired by the GTA box art that I had to give it a go. So I drew Tommy Vercetti and scanned it into Photoshop where I tried to match the same style as the game’s artwork. I didn’t do very well but it gave me a spark, it gave me some direction as to where I would like to go. So I kept at it.

What process do you go through before you decide what to create? Does it come naturally or are you sitting down and thinking of some GTA/Rockstar related subject?
A: Usually the game I pick gives me a lot of direction, for instance; if I wanted to do a picture on Vice City I would instantly think of speeding car chases down the neon streets or a shootout outside The Malibu Club and in the centre of it would be the protagonist in a dynamic action pose. My imagine helps me a lot, usually I can just see the final picture in my head before I even put pencil to paper, so that gives me good guidance.

Which piece took the longest to complete?
A: I would probably have to say my Grand Theft Auto TRIBUTE picture, there was a lot involved with that one. I think I spent nearly a month working on it, but that’s probably because I like to make sure everything’s perfect haha.

How would you define your style?
A: I like to think my style has a modern feel to it, very clean but also a little edgy and gritty in ways.

What if people want acquire the same skills as you, what would you advice them?
A: It’s all about fuelling your motivation, watch movies or play games to give you that spark! And use your imagination to create something of your own, something that people would love to see! One of the most important things when creating a piece is to pencil it all out first, spend time doing your sketch and make sure it’s all there for you too see, this way you have good guidance when doing digital work.

What is your favourite Rockstar Game?
A: I know it’s not out yet, but I can already tell you it’s going to be GTA V. But at the moment it’s a toss up between Vice City and GTA IV, Vice had such a good impact on me with all the cool 80s vibes, but GTA IV had so much more to do and also had a great story to it.

Are you going to create a Max Payne 3 related piece?
A: I have been meaning to for a while but really want to play before I do a picture, I’m very excited for Max Payne 3, it just looks so good!

We know from the R* Newswire that the good people of Rockstar has seen and love your work, and that begs the question: Have you ever been offered a job at Rockstar? If yes, why did you turn it down?
A: It’s always been my dream to work for Rockstar Games, and I have came close to working with them but I haven’t managed to achieve that just yet. Hopefully someday my dream will come true.

About a year ago you did a great video tutorial, showing of some of your techniques.
Is there any chance we’ll see more of these videos taking us through your process?
A: Yes I think I will do another video someday, lately I’ve been trying a new technique and once I have mastered it I would like to share that process with the world. Plus making those videos are just too damn fun haha!

Aside from gaming and drawing, what are some of your other hobbies?
A: Hmmm let me think.. I also love to sculpt, I have only done a few sculptures but it’s a new found hobby. I love video editing and doing a lot of things with After Effects, and a little bit of 3D modelling. I am a bit of a movie guru, there’s not many movies I haven’t seen. I also love to keep up with fitness, going to the gym and whatnot.

What are your plans for the coming year or two?
A: I have big plans to try and evolve more, I want to push my drawing skills further and see what I can really do. That means bigger challenges and try for bigger opportunities, that’s my goal.

With the release of Max Payne 3, you’ll be able to let Friends know each time you’ve unlocked a Trophy/Achievement, throw down the gauntlet for a multiplayer session, or see when a friend has added a new soldier to their CREW (come Wednesday). Head to your profile page now at the main Social Club dashboard to get started.
• ADD YOUR FRIENDS – You can search and add Friends that are current Social Club members and also find, import and invite mates from your Facebook, Twitter and gaming accounts too. The first issue of the three part Max Payne 3 comic series has been released in digital form. Written by both Dan Houser and Sam Lake, the first issue begins with a scene in a Hoboken, New Jersey bar from Max Payne 3 where Max confronts the son of a powerful mobster. The comic then flashes back to tell the story of Max’s “troubled upbringing” and gives some details on Max’s life through the first two games.

Intro.

Yes of course!
Was the first thing going through  my mind when I received an E-mail from Rockstar Games asking me if I wanted to come over to NYC to play Max Payne 3 with all the other fansite webmasters.

New York New York!

For the sake of every information-hungry reader I won’t go into too  much detail about the trip itself and focus more on Max Payne 3.
Everything was planned out excellent by Rockstar Games, we all stayed in the Soho Grand Hotel and went out chilling at the Brooklyn Bowl. ( Great Place!)

Friday.

So after some great bowling on the arrival date it was time to head back to the hotel because next day we would be playing Max Payne 3!
The drive back to the hotel went at the insane break-neck speed of 2 miles an hour so we had the chance to check out New York in every detail imaginable.

Central Park

Saturday.

The big day! I got up really early and went downstairs to get some breakfast ( Thanks Rockstar!).
Explored Central Park a bit and went back to the hotel before Rockstar Games would pick us up in these big black Escalades.

We arrived at a really cool black brick building with just 1 door. With of course: the Rockstar Games Logo on it!

Inside they transformed the room into a really cool ‘gaming lounge’ with about 20 Xbox 360′s and 4 P.C’s that were all running Max Payne 3.

After getting a look at the Max Payne 3 T.V Commercial ( Haven’t seen it? Check it!) we were all fired up to play Max Payne 3.
Like the real P.C Gamer that I am I quickly got a seat behind one of the huge 27Inch+ screens with my hands on the keyboard and mouse, it was time to play..

Nightclub.

It all started out in this nightclub when Max was on a mission to escort some rich dude (at least to him) and his girlfriend(s). With a lot of cynical talk by Max himself (Gotta love the guy) the party turned into a shit-hole and it was time for Max to save the day.
The first time I had the control over Max felt really good, you actually have the feeling that you are controlling a person instead of some bits and bytes on the screen.
After blasting my way trough the club and using more bullet time than I could afford I was suddenly in a helicopter with a laser-outer fitted sniper-rifle shooting bad guys at a break-neck speeds. This is one of those rare moments in games were I was actually feeling pretty nervous about getting the job done.

Damn! I shot a water pipe by accident but wait.. water was pouring out of the pipe. A Rockstar Representative saw me shooting the water pipe and said: ‘Shoot the environment!’ so I did and 5 minutes later I was pumping bullets in everything I could.
The detail is amazing! That’s one thing I couldn’t let go.
From the faces to the buildings to the depressing coffee-cups on Max’s depressed table it all felt so real.

New York City.

It's a calm neighborhood.

Time to blast my way through Max’s apartment complex. The detail -again- was amazing.
The moment I went up on the roof the game started to breath that typical Max Payne vibe. Dark, gritty, beautiful.

Doing some insane bullet-time jumps,flips, and hoops while pumping bullets in thugs was an amazing experience. Like I was starring in my own movie, but done right.

After all that insane-action I had to wind down a little bit and get something to drink.  (Thanks To Rockstar!) I’m allergic to alcohol so I was drinking Coke all night but that didn’t make it less fun! Bullet casing covered the bar and AJ collins (RockstarLoft.net) and  I decided to create the Rockstar Games logo out of them. It took us about 40 minutes to complete it. ( The star [*] was the hardest part) but it payed of! Check it below.
