Here is a full list of characters that can be found in the game.

Carl Johnson (CJ)

Carl is the main playable character in GTA: San Andreas, CJ returned from Liberty City after the shooting of his mother. He is one of the main leaders of the Grove St Families.

Carl Johnson is voiced by Chris “Young Maylay” Bellard, a young rapper hoping to capitalize on the success of GTA San Andreas.

Sean “Sweet” Johnson
Sweet is CJ’s older (and wiser) brother, he is the leader of the Grove st Families, he is powerful and un-controllable and should be approached with caution.

Sweet is voiced by Faizon Love, who has starred in various productions from 1992 to present. Love was born in Santiago de Cuba, in 1968.

Melvin “Big Smoke” Harris

Big Smoke is a family friend of CJ and a long time member of the Grove St Families, he is extremely overweight and is obsessed with money. Later he betrays the Grove st Families to work with the Balla’s.

Big Smoke is voiced by Clifton Powell, winner of several NAACP awards. Powell has been acting since 1981, starring in such films as “Menace II Society” (1993).

Lance “Ryder” Wilson

Ryder is one of CJ’s oldest friends and is passionate about the Grove St Families, he is highly irritable and should be approached with caution. He is short, scrawny and violent.

Ryder is voiced by MC Eiht, lead rapper of the group “Compton’s Most Wanted”. He starred in the film “Menace II Society” in 1993.

Officer Frank Tenpenny

Tenpenny is a corrupt cop who works for the Ballas, helping them in their drug operations in Los Santos and heads anti-gang unit C.R.A.S.H. Tenpenny always has a tendency to harras CJ.

Officer Tenpenny is voiced by Samuel L. Jackson, who was nominated for an Oscar for his role as Jules Winnfield in the movie “Pulp Fiction” (1994). Jackson is famous for playing violent, loud-mouthed characters.

Officer Eddie Pulaski

Pulaski is Tenpenny’s right-hand man who has wanted to kill CJ for years, he takes no crap from anybody and is rarely seen speaking nicely.

Officer Pulaski is voiced by Chris Penn, who started acting at age of 12 at the Loft Studio in Los Angeles. Born in 1962, Penn has a black belt in karate and has starred in more than 50 different movies.

Officer Jimmy Hernandez

Hernandez is not quite like his commanding officers of C.R.A.S.H and doesn’t agree with their methods but he is willing to follow them around for a cut. Later he tries to expose Tenpenny and Pulaski which ends with his death.

Officer Hernandez is voiced by Armando Riesco, who also voice-acted in GTA Vice City and Midnight Club II. Riesco also did some pedestrian voices in GTA San Andreas.

Wu Zi Mu

Simply known to his friends as “Woozie” he is one of the leaders of the triad gang in San Fierro. He is blind but he can somehow manage to race cars and play golf! He also runs the Four Dragons Casino in Las Venturas.

Woozie is voiced by James Yaegashi, who began his acting career in 1999 starring as “Cole” in the movie “Spin the Bottle”.

Ran Fa Li

Ran Fa Li leads the Red Gekko Tong, one of San Fierro’s greatest triad gangs. He doesn’t say much, just a few grunts here and there.

Although he doesn’t say much (in fact, he doesn’t say anything at all – just the occasional grunt) Ran Fa Li is voiced by Hunter Platin. Platin also voice-acted in Manhunt, Midnight Club II, GTA Vice City and Grand Theft Auto 3.

Su Xi Mu

Often referred to as Suzie, Su Xi Mu represents the triads in general and assists Woozie.

Su Xi Mu is voiced by Richard Chang, who played the prosecutor in the movie “Return to Paradise” (1998) and “Gafar” in the 2004 movie “Kejar Amerika”.
Barry “Big Bear” Thorne

Referredto as Big Bear, Barry is an elder member of the Grove st Families. He is often seen along side OG B-Dup who has drugged him up, Big Bear is in very poor condition due to his drug addiction and is a slave to B-Dup.

Big Bear is voiced by Big Boy, who hosts a radio show on Los Angeles’ Power 105.9 FM station. He moved to Los Angeles at the age of 2.
Kendl Johnson

Kendl is CJ and Sweets sister, she argues a lot with her brother Sweet and is upset that CJ could not be there to support his family when they needed it. She is currently dating Varios Los Aztecas leader Cesar Vialpando who is a childhood friend of CJ’s.

Kendl is voiced by Yolanda Whittacker, nicknamed “Yo-Yo”. She is well known as a hip-hop MC under the name Yo-Yo who was discovered by actor/MC/producer Ice Cube.

Cesar Vialpando

Cesar is a childhood friend of CJ and is currently dating CJ’s sister Kendl. He leads the Various Los Aztecas gang in Los Santos which is currently diminishing, he is obsessed with stolen cars and is tatoo’d from top to bottom.

Cesar is voiced by Clifton Collins. Collins began his acting career in 1991, and starred in the movie “Menace II Society” in 1993.

Catalina

Cesar’s cousin and very irritable, she is one of the most outrageous female characters in the game, literally. Throughout the story you will partake in robbery missions with her.

Catalina is voiced by Cynthia Farrel, who also played Catalina in Grand Theft Auto 3 (2001).

Claude Speed

Claude Speed briefly appears in a mission when CJ beats him in a street race, he is currently dating Catalina and is planning to move to Liberty City.

Just like in Grand Theft Auto III (2001), Claude doesn’t say a single word and therefore has no voice-actor.

Mark “B-Dup” Wayne

OG B-Dup recently (and suspiciously) moved out of his Ganton home and into Glen Park – Ballaterritory, he is often seen alongside Big Bear who is his slave. He has apparantly betrayed The Grove to work with the Ballas.

B-Dup is voiced by Jayceon Taylor, who is nicknamed “The Game”. The Game was born into a life of gang-banging and hustling – his father being a Nutty Block Crip and his mother a Hoover Crippelette. He recalls seeing his parents preparing to do drive-by’s.

Jeffery “OG Loc” Martin

Wannabe’ gangsta rapper Jeffery Martin, who tries to always be try-hard and ‘gangsta’ but never really succeeds. Infact he’ll do anything to get thrown in Jail, be it parking fines, joy riding or some other bullsh*t.

OG Loc is voiced by Jonathan Anderson, who starred in the movie “The Source” in 2002.

Maccer

Maccer is a reccording artist from Salford who is currently planning a comeback tour. He has self controle problems and is obsessed with sex. Check out Maccer’s official website, here.

Maccer is voiced by Shaun Ryder. Ryder was a musician (vocalist) for the band “Happy Mondays” from the end of the 80s to the mid-90s. Now vocalist of the band “Black Grape.”

Kent Paul

Kent is believed to have a serious narcotics addiction and see’s himself as a criminal mastermind, when he is in fact not. He is often seen along side Maccer and has connections with Ken Rosenbourg.
