After a lot of rumours floating around the web the last couple of year, Apple finally announced their iPad today , according to Apple it’s going to change the way we do everyday tasks, but right now we are going to focus around the games on Apple’s new device and check out if the games by Rockstar could make their way to the tablet.
Let’s start of with a little introduction on the Apple iPad, below you can check out some links we have gathered so that you can learn more about the new device by Apple.
- Official product pictures.
- Official iPad video.
- Prices and 3G.
- Books, Movies, Magazines.
- What about my Apps?
Rockstar Games at the App store.
- End last year Rockstar launched Beaterator on the iPhone which enabled thousands of people to create music in a twist without years of experience in the music industry.
- Recently Rockstar released Chinatown Wars on the App Store which is now at the #1 spot of all the Apps, it’s Grand Theft Auto on your iPhone / iPod Touch, take out your device and you have the whole GTA experience in your hands.
According to Apple your apps will have a home on the iPad, this means that all the money you have spent on those applications isn’t going down the drain, the iPad can run “”virtually every one of these apps, unmodified, right out of the box.”"
They can either run it very small, 1:1 pixel, in the center of the screen. Or they can “pixel double” it and run it full screen, in a low resolution mode

Rockstar on the iPad?
That brings us as Rockstar ( GTA) fans to an interesting discussion, are we going to see Beaterator and Chinatown Wars “upgraded” for the iPad, or is Rockstar going to create/port other games to the iPad?
Talking about the “Very small 1:1 pixel” option is a little waste of the experience on the iPad, all this room to display but the game is the same size as the iPhone/ iPod version, that means that you are practically playing with an over sized iPhone.
The “Pixel Double” option doesn’t sound that great either, it will run full screen but in a low resolution mode, how is this going to effect the quality of the game?
It would be a nice option if Chinatown Wars and Beaterator will be optimized for the iPad owners, if Rockstar is going to do this is a big question, they are working on some great projects for 2010 so maybe they are not even looking at the device.
What I think we all would like to see, are games by Rockstar focusing on the iPad, imagine Grand Theft Auto in full 3D on the iPad or Midnight Club using the build in motion sensor.
Again , if Rockstar is going do to this is a big question for all of us but if they do someday I’m sure it’s going to kick Brucie’s ass, check out some fake images below that we’ve created, that maybe one day, could be reality.

Stay tuned to RockstarBase.com to read about more on this when it’s really happening, expect a review very soon about Chinatown Wars on the iPhone by us.
